Man Attempts a Refund

LIBERTY, September 10, 2013 – The Liberty Police Department responded to Wal-Mart on Monday, Septmeber 9, 2013 for a Liberty man who attempted a false refund.
After reviewing the case, Detective Jennifer Bowles of the City of Liberty Police Department stated that a man identified as Johnathan Dale Ballengee age 23 of Liberty, walked into the store with no items and selected items off the shelf and attempted to refund them at the counter.

Ballengee had a receipt for the items and was given $18.23 in cash as a refund.

Ballengee was located by police and stopped while walking in the 100 block of Hillside Drive in Liberty where he was arrested and transported to jail charged with Theft of Property.

Ballengee is described as a homeless man who stays in and around Liberty and has previous arrests in Liberty County for Failing to Attend School, Theft of Property, Resisting Arrest or Transportation and Public Intoxication.
