Theft of Beer at West Side Grocery

DAYTON, August 30, 2013 - According to Dayton Police is was on Thursday, August 22, 2013 when Robert Gene Babbit age 37 entered the West Side Grocery in Dayton, picked up some beer and left the store without paying for it.

According to Sgt. Colemen when Babbit picked up the beer he pointed to a person in the back of the store and said, “He’s paying for it,” and left.

The owner of the West Side Grocery followed Babbit outside the store and held him at gunpoint until Dayton Police arrived to investigate.

Babbit was taken into custody by Dayton Police, charged with Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The case was investigated by Officer R. Hart.
