Suspect Apprehended after Foot Pursuit
LIBERTY, December 19, 2012 - Shortly after 11:00 AM on Wednesday Officer Rolando Aguilar of the City of Liberty Police Department began a foot pursuit of a suspect who fled a vehicle during a traffic stop.
According to Office Aguilar during routine patrol, he stopped a black, Ford Focus for having an expired inspection sticker near the intersection of Edgewood and Yupon Streets in Liberty. During the stop, the passenger in the vehicle opened the door and Aguilar instructed him to close the door and remain in the vehicle. At that point the passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot with Office Aguilar in Pursuit on foot.
After going through some property the fleeing man wound up on Magnolia Street running toward North Main Street.
As soon as the foot pursuit began the Ford Focus took off and left the scene of the traffic stop.
Sharp told Officers that he thought he had outstanding warrants when in fact he did not.
Sharp was placed in custody, charged with Fleeing or Evading Arrest or Detention Previous Conviction and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
