Major Accident SH 321 in Dayton

DAYTON, August 4, 2012 - It was around 1:00 AM on Sunday morning with Officer Barry Morris with the City of Dayton Police Department responded to a major accident on SH 321 just south of Dayton High School.

A Chevy Equinox traveling south on SH 321 made a right turn on CR 661 at the red light on SH 321, then the driver realized that she had made a wrong turn and backed up into the intersection into the path of a southbound Ford pickup.

The pickup, driven by Robert Rogan Williams age 65 of Dayton, struck the Chevy Equinox broad side, then went into a sideways skid, left the roadway and crashed into a large tree.

The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and utilizing extraction tools freed the man from the wreckage of his pickup.

Liberty County EMS transported Williams to a landing zone in the parking lot of Richter Elementary School where he was transferred to the care of Life Flight and flown to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the Chevy Equinox, Charlotte Hogue age 61 of Houston was not injured.
