Accident US 90 at FM 563 Liberty
LIBERTY, October 20, 2012 - Early Friday evening there was a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of FM 563 and US 90 in Liberty.
According to Officer O’Hanlin of the City of Liberty Police Department a black 2011 Dodge welding truck traveling east on US 90 attempted to make a left turn onto Independence and was struck broad side by a green 2002 Acura sedan traveling west on US 90.
According to O’Hanlin the driver of the Acura was distracted by a small child in his vehicle and disregarded the red light on US 90.
The accident caused a significant oil spill on US 90 in the far right westbound lane and the City of Liberty Fire Department washed the roadway down as part of the clean up of the accident.
In the accident the welding machine on the black Dodge Truck came loose and fell off the truck.
City of Liberty ambulance responded to the scene and checked everyone out. Luckily there were no injuries that required transport to the hospital.
According to Public Records the registered owner of the Acura Sedan was Michele L. Hunt of Dayton and the registered owner of the Dodge truck was David Broussard of Hitchcock.
The westbound lanes of US 90 were partially closed throughout the investigation and clean up of this accident.
