Roll Over Accident in River Bottom
DAYTON, March 22, 2012 – Around 5:15 PM a one vehicle accident occurred in the Trinity River Bottom about a mile east of the Dayton Hill in the eastbound lanes of US 90.
According to Officer Bill Griffin a white Chevy Trailblazer traveling east on US 90 in the inside lane left the roadway to the left due to the driver being distracted. The driver lost control ran through the center median and rolled over on its’ top as it cam to a stop.
The driver of the vehicle was Totiana Hayes age 30 of Liberty who had two passengers onboard at the time of the accident. They were Michael Joseph Muller and Michael Joseph Mullen, Jr., a 10 month-old baby.
Liberty County EMS responded to the scene and checked all the occupants of the vehicle determining that they only suffered minor injuries and transport to the hospital was not required.
During the accident investigation, according to Officer Griffin, a woman eastbound on US 90 in a blue PT Cruiser stopped in the inside lane of moving traffic to take a picture. Officers confronted the driver and issued her a citation for stopping in a moving lane of traffic.
Damage in the accident occurred to the Chevy Trailblazer and approximately six Crepe Myrtle Trees that suffered decapitation and dismemberment.
