Accident on US 90 in Dayton
DAYTON, August 18, 2012 - Liberty County EMS and the Dayton Police Department was dispatched to US 90 just east west of the red light at Cleveland Street for a major accident in the eastbound lanes of US 90 that sent the driver of one of the vehicles to an area hospital for treatment.
According to Dayton Police the accident occurred when an eastbound Toyota Camry failed to control speed and crashed into the rear of a white Chevy Tahoe that in turn struck a Ford Mini Van in front of the Tahoe that had stopped for the red light at the intersection.
Liberty County EMS transported the driver of the Toyota identified as Stephanie Kolat age 24 of Houston to the hospital for treatment.
The family in the Tahoe was from Yoakum, TX and the family in the Ford Mini Van was from Liberty.
According to Dayton Police all vehicles were insured and Stephanie Kolat received citations for Failed to Control Speed and No Valid Driver’s License.
The right eastbound lane of US 90 was closed to traffic for about a half hour as this accident was investigated and debris was cleared from the roadway.
