Man Asleep at Whataburger

LIBERTY, April 27, 2012 - Shortly after midnight on Thursday employees at the Whataburger in Liberty notified the Liberty Police Department that a man in a pickup was parked at the drive in window asleep in his vehicle.

Corporal Frank Longoria followed by Officer Elizabeth Polasek responded to the call.

According to Corporal Longoria upon arrival he approached the vehicle, opened the door, took the vehicle out of gear placing it in park and turned off the engine removing the keys from the ignition.

Corporal Longoria then woke the man up and began an investigation into what was the matter.

As part of the investigation a field sobriety test was administered and the driver of the pickup, William Earl Sims age 35 formerly of Liberty and now of Dayton was taken into custody on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
