Arrest at Valero in Liberty

LIBERTY, April 9, 2012 - Around mid-morning on Monday, Officer David Davis while on patrol near FM 2684 south of US 90 spotted a vehicle that matched the description of one that had been involved in some burglaries.

Officer Davis followed the vehicle to the Valero at the intersection of US 90 and Main Street in Liberty. The driver immediately got out of the vehicle and Officer Davis approached him and identified him as Jerry LaWaune Riggs age 36 of Liberty.

Jerry LaWaune Riggs has a lengthy criminal record in the State of Texas for an assortment of charges including Burglary of a Habitation, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, Evading Arrest or Detention, Resisting Arrest, Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member, Criminal Trespass, Harassment, Theft and Escape.

According to Officer Davis with the City of Liberty Police Department, Riggs had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Credit Card Abuse, a State Jail Felony. He was taken into custody, interviewed and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The vehicle he was driving, a tan Lincoln Navigator, is registered to Christopher and Jennifer Chatlin of Liberty, TX according to Public Records.
