Major Accident on North Main Street
LIBERTY, July 29, 2012 – Sunday night around 11:00 PM the intersection of North Main Street and the SH 146 Bypass was the scene of a one vehicle major accident.
According to Investigating Officer Cedric McDuffie a white Mercury Sable traveling north on North Main drifted across the southbound lanes and onto the shoulder as it approached the intersection. The mercury struck one of the four steel poles holding up all the traffic signals at the intersection in a major head on collision.
The driver of the Mercury was identified as Quadralun Adair Redmon age 21 of Dayton, TX. who according to Public Records does not have a driver’s license only a Department of Public Safety issued ID card.
The City of Liberty Fire Department responded to the scene and utilized extraction tools to free the injured man from the wreckage of his vehicle. Due to the nature of the injuries he sustained in the accident Life Flight Air Ambulance dispatched to the scene and landed on the roadway. Redmon was flown to a Houston Hospital for treatment.
North Main Street was closed to traffic in both direction to make room for the landing zone for Life Flight and for emergency vehicles and personnel to complete their work.
The continuing investigation by the Police Department will focus on factors that may have contributed to this accident including driver distraction and/or fatigue.
