House Fire on Lamar Street
LIBERTY, April 18, 2012 - Shortly after 10:00 PM on Wednesday night the City of Liberty Fire Department was dispatched 416 Lamar Street near Carter Street for a fully involved house fire.
The house is located on Lamar Street and is the second house west of the Godfrey Chapel where Rev. Herron is the pastor according to the sign at the church.
A next door neighbor saw flames coming from inside of the house through a screen door while looking out her kitchen window and reported the fire to authorities.
According to fire personnel at the scene the fire started inside a rear room of the house.
The house suffered major damage and took some time for fire fighters to extinguish.
The house is the long time home of Brian Randolph and is known to authorities. According to records authorities have been to the home several times to remove various and sundry live animals that are in violation of City ordinances because Randolph according to authorities is a practitioner of Santeria.
According to Wikipedia Santeria is, “a system of beliefs that merges the Yoruba religion (which was brought to the New World by West Africans imported to the Caribbean to forcibly work the sugar plantations) with Roman Catholic and Native American Indian traditions. These Africans carried with them various religious customs, including a trance for communicating with their ancestors and deities, animal sacrifice and sacred drumming.”
