Traffic Stop Yields Drug Arrest
LIBERTY, June 16, 2012 - Around 2:30 AM on Sunday morning Officer Kyle Cornelius of the City of Liberty Police Department affected a traffic stop on a vehicle after it failed to signal properly making a turn off Grand Ave. onto Milam Street.
The driver of the vehicle was identified at Ricardo Montelongo age 41 of Liberty.
According to Officer Cornelius the driver had a torn condom package sitting in his lap when he approached the car. After asking Montelongo to step out of the vehicle he questioned him about who his passenger was. Montelongo could not identify his female passenger and told Officer Cornelius he had just picked her up.
Officer Cornelius then turned his attention to Montelongo’s passenger who was indentified as Randi Everett age 27 of Dayton.
Officer Cornelius asked Everett to pull up her the cuff on the bottom of her pants leg and he observed a twenty-dollar bill stuck in the top or her boot. He then asked her to remove her boots and a small plastic baggy was observed containing five blue pills later identified as Hydrocodone tablets.
Everett was taken into custody, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
i-dineout.com asked Officer Cornelius what Everett’s occupation was to which he replied, “She said that she had been unemployed for quite some time.”
Monelongo was issued a traffic citation and released from the scene.
