Petition for City of Liberty Voters
LIBERTY, June 15, 2012 – Liberty resident Bob Walker is spearheading the effort of gathering names on a petition required for a measure to be on the November ballot for businesses in Liberty to sell alcohol under a license but without the currently mandated private club license. Furthermore should the gathering of names on the petition succeed and should voters pass the measure in November it would allow for a liquor store in Liberty. The petition only seeks to put the matter on the November Ballot for a vote by the residents of Liberty.
This measure was passed long ago both in our neighboring counties of Chambers and Harris Counties. Both have liquor stores and many Liberty residents must travel out of town to visit a liquor store. This has been a complaint of some residents for some time.
Furthermore given the fact that businesses in Liberty must have a private club license to sell alcohol this puts them at a competitive disadvantage to businesses in neighboring Chambers and Harris County according to Walker.
According to Bob Walker you can find out more and sign a petition at Mas Amigos, Casa Don Boni and Chili’s currently. Within a couple of days the petition will also be available at Jax’s on Main Street.
It is very important to note that you MUST be a resident of the City of Liberty and be a registered voter in order to sign the petition so the measure, if the petition is successful, can be placed on the November Ballot for consideration by voters.
