Police Apprehend Fleeing Suspect
LIBERTY, June 3, 2012 - Shortly before midnight on Saturday, the City of Liberty Police Department was notified and responded to an auto burglary at the Shell Station across from the Inn at Liberty Motel.
The rear window to a mini van parked at the station had its’ left rear window broken out as a result of the attempted auto burglary. Witnesses saw the man walk across US 90 back to the motel where he was visiting friends and was sitting on a curb in the parking lot when Corporal Frank Longoria drove up. As soon as the suspect saw the police unit drive up he fled on foot across MLK Drive to the area near Sam Houston Street and Oklahoma Streets in the Liberty with Police in pursuit.
Patrol units from other agencies responded and joined the pursuit and search for the fleeing suspect. The search continued for about one hour and forty minutes before the suspect was located inside of a residence after being spotted by a passing wrecker drive with Liberty County Towing jumping a fence who notified the police.
The suspect was apprehended and according to Corporal Frank Longoria with the City of Liberty Police was identified as Chucky Mouton age 23 who according to public data is a resident of Beaumont, TX
Mouton was arrested on charges of Evading Arrest or Detention and transported to the Liberty County Jail. Further charges related to the auto burglar are being pursued by police detectives in their continuing investigation into these events of late Saturday night.
Mouton at only the age of 23 already has a considerable criminal history according to public records including convictions for Criminal Mischief, Possession of Marijuana, Failure of Identify as a Fugitive and most recently Burglary of a Habitation a 2nd Degree Felony for which he received Deferred Adjudication and a $1,000 fine. He has been arrested for these offenses by the Beaumont Police Department twice, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the Sour Lake Police Department. Furthermore Chucky Mouton has seperate identities and aliases including the names, William Trent Brooks and Anthony Walker which he has used in the past according to public records.
