One Arrested after Assault at Local Motel

LIBERTY, May 10, 2012 - Around 4:00 AM on Thursday the City of Liberty Police Department responded to a room at the Inn at Liberty Motel in Liberty for a reported disturbance resulting in the assault of Elizabeth Ebarb.

Not knowing whether or not the actor in the assault was still present, two Liberty County Sheriff’s Patrol Units responded as well to assist Officer Elizabeth Polasek with the City of Liberty Police Department.

In the motel room at the time of the arrival of Officers responding to the call were the victim Elizabeth Ebarb and Suzanne McClelland, age 31 of Liberty, along with the Motel Manager who had been notified as well.

During the course of investigating the assault police learned that McClelland had outstanding arrest warrants from Chambers County for Probation Violations and possibly others.

The warrant for McClelland was confirmed. She was taken into custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The investigation into the assault of Elizabeth Ebarb is continuing and being pursued by City of Liberty Police with McClelland being a witness to the early morning events.
