Movie Costume Mask used in Arm Robbery
CLEVELAND, January 31, 2012 - On January 25, 2012, at 5:35 p.m. the Cleveland Police Department received a phone call from a witness who saw a suspicious masked man standing in front of “Western Finance” located at 115 North College Avenue. While patrol officers were responding they were advised by the dispatcher of a robbery having just occurred at the “Western Finance”.
A passing motorist observed a black male putting on what appeared to be a facial mask similar to the mask worn in the movie “Scream”. The witness while on the telephone with the dispatcher lost site of the subject, but shortly thereafter the subject was seen fleeing out of the front door of the business north toward Crockett Street.
The masked subject got into an awaiting Maroon Ford Contour, or Taurus driven by a black male, and sped off toward Houston Street. The witness advised police the suspected vehicle involved in the robbery was last seen turning off Washington Street onto Oak Street at a high rate of speed.
According to the on-duty attendant at “Western Finance” a masked subject quickly ran inside the front door of the business, and demanded “the money”! The masked Robber jumped the front counter and held a handgun on the attendant, and threatened to hurt her if she did not cooperate. After grabbing money from a cash drawer the subject fled out of the front door. Although, no one was physically hurt, the attendant was emotionally upset.
