Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosts BBQ for Liberty County CPS
CLEVELAND, May 7, 2012 - The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Cleveland, Texas found out the Liberty County Children Protective Services were in need of donations and their church congregation began discussing ways they could be of service. Pastor Anderson said, “The Women’s Lutheran Missionary League began collecting clothing, toiletries, and diapers for the rainbow room but we all felt like we could do more. I noticed right outside our church we have 2 big BBQ pits that we never use, and it hit me, we needed to have a good ole’ fashioned BBQ!”
The church members sold 160 BBQ plates and the proceeds from the event will go the Liberty County CPS Advisory Board.

CPS Board President, Helen Green says, “CPS has never seen this number of children in foster care before and we expect these numbers will continue to rise. Many foster parents are able to provide the bare necessities but anything extra is impossible. Our board members request community support to provide the extra items such as back to school clothes, fees for sports/extracurricular activities, and Christmas presents.”
The Liberty County CPS Advisory Board would like to extend the utmost appreciation to the parishioners of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for hosting a fundraiser in honor of the foster children. A great need to help the children in our community exists and our hope is that other organizations and clubs will think of CPS when planning their next philanthropic event!
