Police Execute Search Warrant - Make Arrest

LIBERTY, April 20, 2012 - On April 19, 2012 around 1:00 p.m. Liberty Police executed a Narcotic Search Warrant in the 2400 block of Grand Ave. in the City of Liberty.

A traffic stop of a suspected vehicle (2012 Chevy Tahoe) which was named in the search warrant, was also conducted by Liberty Police on Cormier St. in the City of Ames.

Arrested at the scene was James Eric Loften age 41 of Liberty. Mr. Loften was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (cocaine), greater than or equal to 4 grams, but less than 200 grams, which is a second degree felony.

Investigators located and seized other narcotics, as well as manufacturing and distribution equipment during the search of the residence and vehicle. Additional narcotic charges are expected in the future related to this search.

This has been an ongoing investigation for the last several months. Liberty Police would like to credit many citizens for reporting suspicious activities in the area which helped in initiating this investigation.
