Karen Acker to Speak at LCGC Meeting
LIBERTY, July 10, 2012 - The Liberty County Genealogical Society is pleased to announce that Ms. Karen Acker will speak to the society at its July 17 meeting.
Ms. Acker is a Certified Genealogist and was a member of the staff at Houston Public Library, Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research until her retirement in 1994. She is a member of the board of The Humble Area Genealogical Society and a past board member of the Clayton Library Friends. Since retirement she has continued to work as a Clayton Library volunteer. Karen and another Clayton retiree, Charlene Wilson, have abstracted and published records of genealogical interest and share the web site, www.abstractingthepast.com.
The program for the meeting on July 17 is designed to introduce some of the lesser known reference materials available on microfilm at Clayton Library. As genealogists, we all know that we sometimes run out of ideas for sources to solve our research goals. This presentation should give the dedicated researcher suggestions for additional resources that could help solve genealogical problems.
The Liberty County Genealogical Society meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10AM in the DAR meeting room behind historic Cleveland Partlow House on Grand Avenue in Liberty. Members are encouraged to attend this meeting and guests are welcome.
