Early Morning Arrest on Sam Houston Street

LIBERTY, July 8, 2012 – Late Sunday night City of Liberty Police Officers were conducting a walk through at a private party being held at the Elks Lodge when they were notified of a verbal altercation between a man and a woman in the parking lot.

The altercation was settled by separation with the woman leaving the Elks Lodge and the man indicated that he would leave as well with someone else.

Shortly after 1:00 AM while on routine patrol, Officer Kyle Cornelius noticed two vehicles parked on Sam Houston Street with a pickup blocking the other vehicle and blocking the street.

Upon investigation the driver of the pickup was the man Officers encountered at the Elks Lodge earlier in the evening and the woman was in the other vehicle. The man identified as Juan Mauricio age 18 of Liberty was trying to talk to the woman.

Upon investigation Juan Mauricio was found to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody on charges of Public Intoxication and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
