Man Arrested After Traffic Stop
LIBERTY, March 28, 2011 - On Monday, at about 6:13 PM, in the City of Liberty, Constable Les Hulsey, and Deputy D.B. Marcolesco, were on patrol, in a two man unit traveling Southbound on F.M. 2830 South; when a vehicle was observed having no inspection sticker displayed.
Deputy Marcolesco made a U-turn and continued Northbound on F.M. 2830 South in pursuit of the suspect vehicle.
The suspect vehicle turned left onto F.M. 160 Westbound; Deputy Marcolesco followed. The suspect vehicle turned on the left directional signal, and merged into oncoming traffic when Deputy Marcolesco initiated a traffic stop.
The suspect vehicle not only continued for approximately one-hundred-fifty yards into oncoming traffic, but, also, overshot a driveway, and traveled into, and out of, a ditch scraping a culvert with the underside of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle finally came to a complete stop in a private yard on the South side of F.M. 160.
Jones has never possessed a valid Texas driver's license, only an identification card. It was also disclosed, via dispatch, that the vehicle that was stopped was not insured.
Jones has additional convictions in the State of Texas according to DPS Criminal Conviction records for Aggravated Robbery, Fleeing or Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Theft.
At this time, Jones was placed under arrest and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance a third degree felony.
Jones was transported to the Liberty County Jail where he was transferred to the care of Jail Staff without further incident.
