Colleagues and Friends Bid a Fond Farewell to retiring Liberty County Extension Agent, Ron Holcomb
LIBERTY, May 14, 2012 - Ron Holcomb, known throughout Liberty County for years as the go-to guy for agriculture and horticultural questions, retires May 16th, 2012. Ron has served as Liberty County’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent for nearly 14 years but logged a total of 18 years with Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Polk, Falls and Liberty Counties helping hundreds of children and adults along the way. Ron has used all resources available to him including the use of technology to assist farmers and producers.
“He’ll be sorely missed by all the staff in our office,” said Liberty County Extension Agent Alexis Cordova, who also serves as the office’s family & consumer sciences agent. “We’ve just absolutely enjoyed working with Ron over the years. He has been a great mentor to me and the staff as well as to hundreds of youth 4-H members. He has been a tremendous asset to this organization on the local, state and national level. His shoes will not be easily filled. There is a lot of experience and knowledge that we’ll be losing in terms of this position and the expertise in the field of agriculture.”
For those wishing to say farewell to Ron Holcomb, a drop-in celebration reception will be held in his honor Tuesday, May 22nd from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty County Extension Office located at 501 Palmer Ave. in Liberty. While it is not required, the staff encourages people to RSVP to the reception by calling 936-334-3230 during business hours.
