At 2:00 PM US Highway 90 is closed in both directions at the SH 146 Bypass and is expected to be closed for some time as investigators are only beginning in interview numerous witnesses and medical personal are attempting to remove the injured from the wreckage of their vehicles while others manage fuel spills as several other activities are going on simultaneously.

The City of Liberty Police Department is being assisted in managing this scene by other law enforcement agencies.

You are encouraged to avoid the intersection when traveling east or west on US 90 and instead take Beaumont Ave. from Liberty to Ames or from US 90 in Ames back to Liberty as an alternate route.

Southbound traffic on the SH 146 Bypass from North Main Street is diverted west on US 90 toward FM 563 only. Southbound traffic on the Bypass cannot turn left to travel east on US 90 as that is blocked.

This major accident will take considerable time to investigate, clear and clean the wreckage from the intersection.

Traffic shortly after the accident going east on US 90 had backed up almost to FM 563 in a short time.

No single photo published in the article shows all the vehicles involved as there are too many for them all to be visible in a single camera shot.
