Accident in Dayton Sunday Afternoon

LIBERTY, October 28, 2012 - Sunday afternoon around 4:00 PM a major accident occurred on FM 1409 near the Kimmie Brown School that was investigated by Officer Ibarra of the City of Dayton Police Department.

According to Officer Ibarra a white Nissan was traveling north on FM 1409 (South Winfree Street) when the driver was distracted by a back seat passenger, left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department utilizing the Jaws of Life rescued both passengers from the vehicle.

Both passengers were transported from the landing zone near the school by Life Flight to Houston for treatment.

A somewhat rare occurence happened when two Life Flight Helicopter were summoned and were both on the ground at the same time to provide the necessary medical transport of the two passengers.

According to Officer Ibarra, the department has not been able to confirm whether or not the vehicle was insured and any citations will be a matter of the outcome of the continuing investigation into the details surrounding this accident.
