HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, August 14, 2012 - TODAY AND TONIGHT IT SHOULD BE ANOTHER HOT DAY ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS. WHILE TEMPERATURES MAY REACH THE UPPER 90S TO 100 ACROSS INLAND PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS...HEAT INDEX VALUES SHOULD REMAIN AROUND 102 TO 105. ALONG THE COAST WHERE MOISTURE IS HIGHER AND DOES NOT MIX WITH DRY AIR DURING THE DAY...HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL BE HIGHER AT 104 TO 108. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR GALVESTON ISLAND.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK THE HEAT PROBLEMS SHOULD DECREASE AS THUNDERSTORM CHANCES INCREASE AND MORE CLOUD COVER IS EXPECTED. THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD BECOME MORE SCATTERED OVER THE WEEKEND WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IN STRONGER STORMS. THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY SHOULD REMAIN BELOW SEVERE LEVELS BUT STRONGER STORMS COULD PRODUCE BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS.
