Linda Gay to Speak to Liberty County Master Gardeners' Association
LIBERTY, Januar 2, 2013 - The public is invited to hear Linda Gay, former Director of Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, speaking to members of the Liberty County Master Gardeners' Association on January 10th at 7 pm.
Ms. Gay worked at the Arboretum for 25 years, working as a Horticulturist and creating several collections of plants, such as the ginger beds. She has collaborated on three books: "Tropical Gardening" and "Water Gardening" published y the American Garden Guides, and "The Lone Star Gardener's Book of Lists" by Bill Adams. She organized and managed horticulture symposiums, horticulture training and education, and led many groups through the gardens at Mercer.
The Liberty County Master Gardeners' Association is open for membership for anyone interested in gardening, the dues are $15 a year, $25 per couple, and include a CD with all of the Horticulture publications from Texas A&M Agrilife Horticulture Division. Reservations are necessary for the lecture, call 936-334-3230. The Extension office is located at 501 Palmer, south of Hwy 90. The Association enjoys a potluck dinner at 6:30.
