Free Family Fishing Day Celebration at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge
ANAHUAC, May 17, 2012 - Looking to get the family outside to enjoy the great outdoors? Want to learn the difference between a redfish and a speckled trout? Wish you knew how to tie the perfect knot? If so, spend Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge for Family Fishing Day!
Hands-on demonstrations and activities are designed for both beginning and experienced anglers to learn more about fishing. Activities include crabology 101 – crabbing for kids, target casting, fish identification, the basics of fishing, boat safety, and more. Crab line, bait, and nets will be available for those interested in trying to catch blue crab, and a limited number of fishing poles and bait, will also be available for those interested in fishing without having to bring your own tools. Youths will also have a chance to win free raffle prizes.
Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 is “Free Fishing Day” in the state of Texas, the only day of the year anglers can fish or crab without a fishing license throughout the State. For more information, please call the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge at 409-267-3337.
