2nd Annual Public Servant Awareness Day was a Success
LIBERTY, October 22, 2012 - The Liberty County Fire Fighters Association sponsors Public Servant Awareness Day each year where Firefighters, Law Enforcement, and EMS from all over Liberty County gather and give away smoke alarms, Child ID kits, gun locks, and much more.
Children have the opportunity to spray water from fire trucks, Smokey the Bear is there to interact with everyone, patrol cars and fire trucks are there for the children to climb on and take pictures with, and public servants are on hand to answer questions or just visit with.
Those recognized by the association for their unique contributions to this event included Walmart for allowing us to set up in their parking lot, 1st Choice Wrecker Service for donating cars for the Jaws of Life demonstrations, the Forest Service for providing Smokey the Bear, DPS for bringing their patrol cars and Troopers, and to Hardin VFD, Hwy 321 VFD, Hull Daisetta VFD, North Liberty Co VFD, Cypress Lakes VFD, Liberty Fire Dept, Westlake VFD, & Woodpecker VFD for the fire trucks and firefighters, and to Liberty Co EMS & Liberty EMS for providing the ambulances and medics, and to the media for advertising to get the word out to the public. All the above is what made this year a big success.
If anyone has any comments or suggestions or would like to contribute to next year's event please contact one of the board of directors of the Liberty Co Fire Fighters Association Bill Hergermueller - President, Craig Powell - Vice President, or Sherry Walton - Secretary/Treasurer.
