Fatal Accident in Dayton
DAYTON, November 11, 2012 – The Dayton Police Department investigated a major accident on SH 321 at Mimosa Lane, CR 668, that occurred at 11:06 AM on Saturday morning resulting in the death of one person and three others being seriously injured.
According to Investigator Doug O’Quinn a silver 2012 Ford was northbound on SH 321 attempting to make a left turn onto Mimosa Lane when its’ driver became distracted and turned into the path of a southbound 2009 gray Nissan occupied with a driver and three passengers.
The driver of the silver Ford was identified as Jay Green age 48 of Dayton who was transported from the scene by private vehicle for medical attention.
The driver of the Nissan was Maria Pesina age 49 of north Liberty County.
Pesina’s adult front passenger was Keith Summers age 49 of Romayor who died at the scene.
Pesina’s rear passengers, her two children ages 6 years and 18 years, were all transported from a temporary landing zone at the scene by Life Flight to Houston for treatment. Her six year old is said to be in extremely critical condition according to police authorities.
The roadway was completely shut down during the investigation and evacuation of the injured by the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department who established and manned the landing zone.
