Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team Membership Drive
LIBERTY October 7, 2012 - The Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team will be beginning its 2012-2013 membership drive with their Annual Business Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Liberty County Extension Office, located at 501 Palmer Ave. in Liberty at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Those wishing to join the drill team are encouraged to attend. There are positions available for novice horse enthusiasts as well as experienced riders who have a desire to learn better horsemanship skills. The requirements for being a drill team member are: minimum age of 9 (or in the 3rd grade) and maximum age of 18 on September 1st 2012, a horse with negative coggins, a willingness to listen, to learn and to be a team player. The team also accepts members from surrounding counties that do not have an equestrian drill team program.
Those interested in joining the team are encouraged to attend practice as they prepare for their performance at the TVE Rodeo. The Rebel Riders will perform at the TVE Rodeo Thursday night October 18th. The Rebel Riders practices on Monday nights and the Lone Star Riders practice on Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:00 pm at White’s Park in Anahuac thru Tuesday, October 16th. The drill team will resume practice at the TVE Arena in Liberty on Monday, October 29th.
The Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team was established in 1968 by Head Drillmaster Tommy Small. They have held the State Championship in either Precision Drill or Theme Drill for the past seven years in a row and have held both Championship Drill titles for the past three years.
