Special guest speaker for the evening was Pamela Marshall of Bryan, Texas. Mrs. Marshall serves as the national magazine chairman for NSDAR and membership chairman for the state society. Mrs. Marshall related details of growth through the years of DAR’s premiere publication, American Spirit magazine, how it has evolved and future plans. The other portion of her program was on growing membership and how chapters can use the many tools available through NSDAR to include a broader range of women in our community. Libertad Chapter Regent, Linda Jamison announced the chapter would donate three 2-year subscriptions in Mrs. Marshall’s honor to Liberty Municipal Library, Dayton Jones Municipal Library and Dayton Middle School. After the business meeting was adjourned, members and special guests were treated to refreshments provided by hostesses, Ada Fay Schmidt, Bobbie Waugh and Nancy Otto. The hostesses decorated the table using the theme of the program, Magazines and Membership with copies of past issues of American Spirit, application forms and red, white and blue flowers.
