Pedestrian Arrested for Possession of Cocaine

LIBERTY, October 19, 2012 – Shortly after midnight on Thursday Officer Kyle Cornelius while on patrol noticed a pedestrian walking west on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive just west of Bowie Street and stopped to investigate.

The man was walking with the flow of traffic and when Officer Cornelius confronted the man asked if he had any weapons on his person. The man was cooperative and pulled his pockets inside out and removed his cap.

The man removed his cap. Officer Cornelius noticed a small plastic bag fall out of the cap and land on the push bar on the front of his patrol car.

The man was identified as Alejandro Cortez-Aguilar age 26 claiming that he resided in Liberty. The powdery substance in the plastic bag field-tested positive for cocaine.

Cortez-Aguilar was placed under arrested, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
