Accident MLK at Milam in Liberty

LIBERTY November 5, 2012 - The City of Liberty Police Department and Fire Departments responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Milam Street late Monday afternoon that resulted in one vehicle pinned on the railroad tracks.

According to Officer Elizabeth Polasek of the City of Liberty Police Department a silver sedan driven by Madelyn Shaffer age of Liberty was traveling north on Milam Street and disregarded the stop sign at MLK proceeding through the intersection when a black sedan traveling west on MLK struck the silver sedan broad side.

Silver sedan traveled through the interesting, knocked down some signs and became pinned on the railroad track.

Authorities notified the railroad to stop all train traffic on the tracks.

The black sedan was driven by Kyle Guettle.

Both occupants of the vehicles were checked out by City of Liberty EMS and refused medical transport.

Madelyn Shaffer was issued a citation for Failed to Yield Right of Way at a Stop Sign.
