Accident in 3000 Block of North Main Liberty
LIBERTY, October 3, 2012 – Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 4:00 PM a two vehicle accident occurred when a 2012 Honda Sedan made a left turn off of Lakeland Drive and crashed into the side of a passing 18-wheeler on North Main near the Express Lube.
The driver of the 18-Wheeler James R. Francois of Baton Rouge, LA., was traveling without a load from Madisonville, TX to his home in Louisiana when his office called and diverted his big rig to Houston to pick up a load that caused him to change his direction of travel and pass through Liberty.
Francois stated that he could see the accident just before it happened and took evasive action to the right to avoid the collision but was unable to get out of the way quick enough.
City of Liberty Ambulance and Fire Department responded to the scene.
According to Officer Rolando Aguilar of the City of Liberty Police Department the driver of the Honda Sedan was identified as Brenda Davis Brown age 63 of Liberty. Luckily she did not have to be transported to the hospital as a result of the accident as she was treated and released at the scene.
The new Honda sedan still had its dealers tags and a front tag with markings of Community Honda.
According to Officer Rolando Aguilar Brown received a citation for Failed to Yield Right of way at a Stop Sign and both vehicles were insured.
The southbound lanes of North Main Street were closed to traffic while this accident was cleared from the roadway and the accident investigation was completed.
