Accident US 90 at FM 563
LIBERTY, February 6, 2012 - Shortly before Noon on Monday a two-vehicle accident occurred at FM 563, Wallisville Road and US 90 in Liberty.
According to Officer David Davis a black Chevy pickup and a welding truck were traveling east on US 90 approaching FM 563. The welding truck was in the far right turn lane to make a right turn onto FM 563.
The Chevy pickup was in the center lane and as it passed the intersection moving into the right lane to make a right turn in the Exxon convenience store on the corner.
The welding truck ignored the turn lane and proceeded in the right lane at speed colliding with the Chevy Truck.
The welding truck was driven by Jason Lee Slankard age 33 of Batson and the Chevy pickup was driven by Paul Lee Bob age 64 of LaPorte.
Mr. Bob was checked out by City of Liberty EMS who responded to the accident.
Luckily no one was transported to the hospital.
According to Officer Davis the accident is still under investigation and Slankard will possibly receive citations for Failure to Control Speed and Disregarding Turning Lane Only.
