Alligator Captured on Beaumont Ave.
LIBERTY, April 18, 2012 - Early Wednesday afternoon citizens reported the sighting of an alligator in the ditch along Beaumont Ave. just east of Independence Drive.
Liberty Animal Control Officers responded to the scene and summoned both Game Warden Adam Boll and the Liberty Fire Department.
The shy gator quickly retreated into a drainage culvert below the parking area along Beaumont Ave that serves the office building on the corner.
A plan was coordinated to have the Fire Department using water from a fire hydrant on the corner to flush the shy gator from the long culvert under the parking area that runs along Beaumont Ave.
At times the alligator could be spotted in the underground culvert by looking through one of several drains above the culvert in the parking area.
The plan worked and the alligator measuring about 3 or 4 feet long was captured in a large net as it exited the culvert on the east end.
