Late Night Accident on Missouri Street
LIBERTY, April 16, 2012 - Neighbors in the 600 block of Missouri were disturbed just after midnight on Sunday night when they heard a truck speeding down the street that sounded like it was drag racing.
The vehicle was a white Chevy Silverado traveling north on Missouri that crashed at the end of the street where Missouri intersects Webster Street.
When Missouri Street came to an end the pickup went straight crashing into two trailers, a lumber pile and a large iron kettle used for outdoor cooking at barbeques.
The pickup tried to back up several times and pull away from the accident scene but had become disabled as a result of the crash.
City of Liberty Police Officers Elizabeth Polasek and Kyle Cornelius arrived to investigate and found that both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle were intoxicated.
According to Public Records the truck is registered to Dale Litton of Liberty.
The driver was identified as Joseph Alex age 22 of Liberty. Alex was taken into custody, charged with Driving While Intoxicated. A blood warrant was obtained after Alex refused to give a breath sample. After the blood sample was obtained he was transported to the Liberty County Jail.
Found in front center console of the truck was an open bottle of Bud Light Platinum which has a higher alcohol content than regular Bud Light.
The passenger was identified as Cody Mouton age 23 of CR 1338, Liberty. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Liberty County Jail charged with Public Intoxication.
