|Suspected Auto Thief Apprehended at Gun Point
LIBERTY, February 6, 2012 - Late Monday morning the City of Liberty Police Department was notified about happenings at 1609 Kentucky but communication was difficult to obtain due to a language barrier. The department was able to determine where the call was coming from and Officer William O’Hanlon was dispatched to investigate.
Officer O’Hanlon, once in the area was able to locate the complainant and discover that the complainant had observed the theft of a vehicle, had stopped the vehicle where upon the driver jumped out and fled.
In a search for the suspect other responding Officers joined Officer O’Hanlon. The search area roughly included the area bounded by Beaumont Ave., Cos Street and Maryland and Kentucky Streets in Liberty.
It was Officer O’Hanlon, after getting a description of the suspect, located him hiding in a garage in the backyard of a residence.
As soon as the suspect say Officer O’Hanlon, he fled, running through yards and jumping fences with O’Hanlon in pursuit.
The suspect identified as Josh Albritton age 24 of Liberty was eventually apprehended at gunpoint in the front yard of a home on Cos Streets.
As Officers were told, Albritton had a knife as well as illegal incense in his possession at the time of his arrest. According to Officer O'Hanlon he will be charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and does have a previous history with the Police Department.
Officer O’Hanlon was assisted by Officers David Davis, Tammy Bishop and an unidentified LCSO Deputy.
