Accident on FM 563

LIBERTY, October 1, 2012 – According to Officer Cedric McDuffie sometime between 1:00 and 1:30 AM on Monday morning a white Honda traveling north on FM 563 left the roadway and crashed into a guardrail on FM 563 just south of Briar Drive in Liberty.

The guardrail penetrated the front grill of the car on the passenger side and exited the vehicle through the rear, driver’s side door.

When Officers arrived at the scene to investigate the accident no driver was found.

Imaging equipment was brought to the scene and the area searched for any signs of life. None were found and the driver is unknown.

Running the license plate on the vehicle Officers discovered that the Honda sedan was in fact the same vehicle that had been reported to the Liberty Police Department as stolen earlier in the evening.

FM 563 was closed to traffic for more than two hours as this accident was investigated and the vehicle removed from the guardrail.

TxDot crews were on the scene early this morning making necessary repairs to the guardrail.
