Accident US 90 West of Dayton
DAYTON, May 7, 2012 - Monday afternoon a two-vehicle accident occurred on US 90 about five miles west of Dayton when a Jeep collided with the rear end of trailer while both were traveling west.
According to Officer Cole Holden of the Dayton Police Department the Jeep was traveling west behind the trailer when the driver became distracted, looked down and ran into the back of it.
The trailer was loaded with a large piece of farm equipment and was in transit to another location at the time.
The driver of the Jeep was transported by Liberty County EMS Ambulance to Liberty Dayton Regional Center for treatment of his injuries.
The windshield just above the steering wheel suffered sever impact damage during the accident and was protruding to the outside.
According to Officer Holden the driver of the Jeep will receive a citation as a result of the accident and both vehicles were insured.
