Liberty Police Announce AOR Program

LIBERTY, December 11, 2012 - The City of Liberty Police Department is starting a new program called the Area of Responsibility Program or AOR on December 11, 2012.

In setting up the program the city was divided into six geographical areas of responsibility. Each AOR has a certain number of businesses and residences indicated in the photo above.

The vision of the Liberty Police Department is “A safe and proud community where people live peacefully and free from fear,” and the AOR Program will establish a more personal relationship with the community and help accomplish this vision by forming a partnership with the community.

Each area will have a day and night officer assigned to the area. The officers will become aware of the normal activities within their AOR and get to know the residents who live there. Their primary mission is to provide Safety, Service, and Security in the neighborhoods they are responsible for.

Safety concerns may include faded stop signs, foliage covering street signs, inadequate lighting, traffic enforcement and the like.

Service involves the facilitation of programs the police department offers.

Security is devoted to the deterrence and prevention of criminal behavior in our community, which included visibility, routine patrol, bike patrol, and much more.

All Officers have a list of every address in their AOR and are to make personal contact with a member of every household and business within their area. During the contacts, they educate the community about the department’s programs and discuss any concerns the residents may have. The goal of this program is to further ensure the community understands the Liberty Police Department’s dedication to the residents and businesses of Liberty.

If you have any questions, about safety or crime please contact your AOR Officer. Their job as your AOR Officer is to make sure that your questions are addressed promptly and to monitor the crime in the area. The Officers will still be responsible for the city-wide patrol and response but will have a more focused area to patrol.
