MOSS HILL, November 1, 2009 - Around 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon an accident involving a Honda 600 motorcycle and low bow trailer occurred on SH 146 about one mile south of the intersection in Moss Hill.

According to DPS Trooper Rob Willoughby a pickup pulling a low boy trailer was traveling north on SH 146 followed by a motorcycle with both a driver and a rider.

As the trailer slowed the driver of the motorcycle moved to the left to pass when the pickup and trailer made a left turn into a private drive. According to Willoughby witnesses stated the trailer had no lights.

The Hardin Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene assisting with traffic control and assisting paramedics with the rescue of the injured riders.

The passenger on the motorcycle, Chastity Smith age 17 of Hardin was transported by Liberty County EMS to Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty for treatment.

The driver of the motorcycle, Shane Bott age 36 of Liberty went to the hospital by private vehicle.

The driver of the pickup with trailer was identified as Kevin Berryhill age 43 of Liberty.

According to Willoughby citations in this accident are part of the continuing investigation by the Department of Public Safety.

All parties were insured and both driver and rider of the motorcycle were wearing helmets.
