Police Make Drug Arrest at Motel

LIBERTY, October 28, 2009 - Police were called to a disturbance at the Luxury Inn and Suites on US 90 in Liberty around 10:30 AM on Wednesday. According to Sgt. David Hunter, an overnight guest was locked out of a room and hotel management would not let him back in because he was not the person who rented the room last night. The guest identified as Robert Chesson age 38 was causing a disturbance and the manager summoned police to assist.

Check out time passed and the manager agreed to retrieve the guest’s belongings and sent housekeeping staff to retrieve them. Housekeeping staff discovered illegal drugs among the guest’s belongings and reported it to police who were already on the scene.

“The guest had stayed overnight in the motel room with a woman he had picked up in Raywood identified as Crissy Cantrell age 22, said Sgt. David Hunter of the City of Liberty Police Department. “Both are known drug users.”

While police were investigating Chesson claimed that he was suffering a seizure and City of Liberty EMS was summoned to the scene for observation and to check out Chesson.

According to Sgt. Hunter, “In all two bags of methamphetamines were recovered from the room by police tallying about 11.25 grams.”

Both Chesson and Cantrell were charged with Possession of Methamphetamines, a Felony, and taken to the Liberty County Jail.
