Norman Brown Announces Re-Election Campaign
DAYTON, October 30, 2009 - In a statement released today Liberty County Commissioner Norman Brown announces his re-election bid.
Brown stated, “Today I’m announcing two very important decisions in my life. First, I am beginning my reelection campaign for Liberty County Commissioner of Precinct #4. When I first became commissioner in January 2003, I came into the office with stated goals to improve conditions in Precinct #4 and Liberty County government in general. Many of those goals have been accomplished, yet there still remains much to be done. Even though progress can and has been made, invariably events can happen to set us back for years to come. In my opinion, there have been several recent events that have caused many residents in Liberty County to doubt the credibility and integrity of officials that were elected by the people to serve them. I want to be an integral part in rebuilding the trust and respect of the people. Very soon I will begin my campaign in earnest, hoping to count on the residents of Precinct #4 to allow me the privilege of continuing to serve them as I have in the past.
The second very important announcement is my decision to change from the Democratic Party to become a member and candidate of the Republican Party. Please be aware that this decision was not made as a spur of the moment whim. Much thought and deliberation went into the decision to switch my allegiance. Let me say that I don’t feel as though I’m leaving the Democratic Party as much as they have moved away from me, both locally and at the National level. I have many good friends in both parties and I am well aware that people from both parties helped me win my previous elections. I pray that I will not lose good friends over my decisions.”
Thank you all.
Committed to serving the people.
Norman D. Brown
