Unidentified Body Found In Field

LIBERTY July 23, 2019 - Shortly after noon on Sunday, a hired person on a tractor and looking for a lost cow found the badly decomposed body of a man lying in high weeds of a field approximately 100 yards from a home in the Gulf Company Road area of south-east Liberty County.  According to Liberty County Sheriff’s lead Investigator Sean Mitchell the remains are thought to be that of a man who the land owner did not know well but had been staying at the residence on the property for the past several days and was last seen on Monday, July 15th as he drove away in a pick-up truck.

Investigator Mitchell said that at this time there is no confirmed identity of the deceased man so as a result no family members have been notified nor were there any immediate signs of foul play. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, Judge Ronnie Davis ordered an autopsy while the investigation continues by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
