LIVIINGSTON September 4, 2019 - This year, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative celebrates 80 years of proudly serving its members in East Texas. In the early 1930s, when less than 3% of rural Americans received the benefits of electric service, vast rural areas of America did not have access to the wonders of electricity.

Like many electric co-ops, Sam Houston EC struggled during its early development.

An electric cooperative in the rugged Pineywoods of East Texas was not expected to survive and flourish, but we are forever thankful our founding members were determined to prove otherwise.

We’re just as grateful for our current members. You partner with us through Operation Round Up to provide grants to local nonprofit organizations, and alongside our employees, you lend aid to members in distress through our Helping Hands program.

To show our appreciation, we’re giving away four Houston Astros tickets. All you have to do click here. You will be asked to provide your name, account number and service address. Only one entry per membership.

The winner will be picked in mid-September, and he or she will get to see the Astros face the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.
