Burglary Suspect Arrested in the act

LIBERTY March 12, 2019 - Monday afternoon 3/11/2018 Liberty Police arrested a subject in the act of committing a burglary.

Around 3:15 p.m. Liberty Police responded to a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Kipling St..  Upon arrival officers observed Kevin D. Chambers age 22 with a Liberty address coming out the front door of the house.  Chambers was taken into custody immediately without incident.  Liberty Police had responded to the location because the home owner who was at work had called because she had received notification of motion on her video cameras.  She then observed Chambers in her house and called police.

Initial investigation determined that Chambers had entered the house and taken several electronic items which were found in his possession.  The home owner stated that she had a couple items missing in the recent past.  She also stated that she recognized Chambers at the same person who had been to her house, knocked on the door and asked for a drink of water a couple times in the past.  That is when she decided to get the cameras working.

Chambers is being charged with Burglary of Habitation which is a 2nd Degree Felony.

Police ask that you be alert around your residence and report any suspicious activity as it may be tied to something else in the future or past.
