Shooting Sends Teen to Hospital

WEST WOODLAND HILLS December 04, 2018 - At approximately 1:15am Sunday morning, the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher received a 911 call from a caller saying a shooting victim was at their residence on CR 677 in the West Woodland Hills Sub-Division. When Cpl. Shelly Edwards and Deputy Ryan Cavanaugh arrived they found 18 year old Dallas Marsh, of the Dayton area, suffering from a gun-shot wound to his face.

According to Sheriff’s lead Investigator James R. McQueen, witnesses told him that Marsh was a passenger in a car with two other individuals when they encountered another vehicle on CR 6763.  When the victim’s car approached the other vehicle, a shot was fired from the other car and Marsh was struck in the face with an unknown caliber bullet. It is unclear, at this early stage of the investigation, as to what caused this confrontation that resulted in the shooting.

After being shot, the individuals drove Marsh to the residence on CR 677 where Liberty County EMS responded and later sent Marsh, by Life Flight, to a Houston hospital with what is thought to be, at this time, a non-life threatening gun-shot wound to his head.

Investigator McQueen is conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the true facts of a motive for the shooting as well as attempting to confirm the identity of the suspect who shot Dallas Marsh.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867. A cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the guilty party will be given and the “tipsters” identity will remain anonymous.
