Texas Crab Festival Announces 2019 Music Entertainment Schedule
CRYSTAL BEACH. December 28, 2018 - The Texas Crab Festival has just released the entertainment schedule for the 34th annual Mother’s Day weekend bash, featuring a “Who’s Who” of Crab Fest favorites. The 2019 celebration of Gulf Coast style Music, Art and Crabs takes place May 10-12 at Gregory Park in Crystal Beach. Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for a full weekend of fun for the whole family.
The Texas Crab Festival features a carnival midway, crab gumbo cook off, RV and boat shows, coastal arts & crafts, and booth after booth of delicious crab creations, fresh local seafood and traditional festival favorites. Dive into the fun by signing up for the Two-Step Dance Contest, 5K/1K Fun Run/Walk, Washers and Cornhole Tournaments, or Scavenger Hunt. Enjoy exciting events like the Crab Races, Crab Legs Contest, and Wiener Dog Races as well as games, auctions, prize giveaways and great live music on stage all weekend long.

Paul Childers (7:45pm-9:15pm) accepted our invitation to perform on the evening of his debut performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We literally spoke to him as he walked off the stage. Blending Pop, R&B, and Soul, Childers is leaRe: PRESS RELEASE FOR UPCOMING EVENT SPONSORED BY LCHCding a new breed of singer/songwriters and guitarists. Hailing from Nashville, he finds a way to blur the lines cast between Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix styles of guitar playing. He performed at the Grand Opening of the Songbirds Guitar Museum and has opened for Vince Gill and Robert Cray.
2013 Grammy Award Winner and Louisiana and Gulf Coast Museum Hall of Fame member Wayne Toups (10:00pm-11:30pm) returns to the TCF stage with his unique brand of Cajun, Zydeco, R&B, and Rock music. Wayne has toured the world but has always found a home here at Crystal Beach. He has long been dubbed “the Cajun Springsteen or others simply call him “Le Boss”. You won’t want to miss his “Cajun fusion with a Rock and Roll attitude

Full of grit, soul, and even some tenderness, Tennessee Jet (5:30pm-7:00pm) is one talented musician. Nashville based Tennessee Jet and his band play music described as powerful, badass, and influenced by artists as diverse as Dwight Yoakam, The White Stripes, and Kurt Cobain. TJ McFarland was raised in Oklahoma with both parents rodeo performers. He is currently touring with popular acts Cody Jinks and Ward Davis. Tennessee Jet is no stranger to Texas with performances at Austin City Limits and the Woodlands in the coming weeks.
Texas Country Artist Sunny Sweeney (7:45PM-9:15PM) is the headliner for Saturday evening. Described as the quip that makes you laugh and the truth that makes you cry; she was raised in Longview, Texas and pursued acting and comedy before taking her musical talents seriously. She has since built a tremendous following starting with the Music Capital of Texas where she was named one of Austin’s most notable local artists. She was nominated in 2013 as the New Female Artist at the American Country Music Awards, and the release her acclaimed fourth studio album “Trophy” in March 2017 includes popular songs both light hearted and heart wrenching. She combines contemporary country, honky-tonk and traditional country music.
Back by popular demand, Saturday night ends with the New Orleans Party Band Bag of Donuts (10:00PM-11:30PM) with their flair for kabuki make-up and extravagant costumes. Welcome the boys back for their cover songs performed in a style they have branded “Super Pop”; any song for any era. Now in their 31st year, Bag of Donuts delivers New Orleans traditions and ultimate showmanship to festivals from Texas to Florida. To quote the band, “It’s like Mardi Gras all year long”.

Who did not fall in love with Sandy G and the Latin group from Houston Sandy G Y Los Gavilanes? (1:45PM-3:15PM) They are welcomed back as the Sunday afternoon featured entertainment. Sandy and the band offer a high energy professional performance with a full brass section that will only have you wanting more.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of local volunteers and the generous support of our sponsors, 100% of the net proceeds from the Crab Fest go to fund support programs, scholarships and grants that help better the lives of residents of the Bolivar Peninsula. Since 2013, the 501(c)(3) non-profit Texas Crab Festival Charities has granted over $350,000 to fund youth scholarships and camps, local schools, volunteer fire departments and various outreach initiatives.
The 2019 Texas Crab Festival is May 10-12, 2018 at Gregory Park, located at 2292 Highway 87, Crystal Beach, Texas. All-day admission is $10 Friday, $10 Saturday and FREE on Sunday.
