Two Arrested for Possession in Liberty

LIBERTY September 6, 2018 - On Saturday 09/01/2018 at approximately 02:05 hours, an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet pickup green in color bearing TX LP: at the 800 block of Main, Liberty, Liberty County, TX 77575 for expired registration (January, 2018). The Officer then made contact with the W/M driver and W/F passenger.

The Officer asked the W/M for driver's license and proof of insurance. The Officer noticed the W/M was sweating profusely and appeared to be very nervous while he fumbled through lots of papers. The Officer asked the W/M if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and the W/M stated no.

Through a check through NCIC/TCIC, it was found that the W/M driver, identified as Tyler Gage Bott age 28 of Hardin was operating the vehicle with an invalid Texas driver's license. The Officer also received information from dispatch that the W/F passenger had traffic warrants through liberty county sheriffs office.

The Officer then placed the W/F, identified as Keisha Nichole Leftrick age 39 of Liberty in custody for the traffic warrants.

The Officer arrested Bott for Driving while license invalid.

Incident to arrest, the Officer found a blue plastic bag containing a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine, in the bed of the vehicle. After a custodial interview with Bott at which time he waived his rights to speak to the Officer, Bott admitted receiving the crystal like substance from the passenger Keisha Leftrick and placing it in the bed of the said vehicle. After a custodial interview with Leftrick at which time she waived her rights to speak to the Officer, Leftrick admitted knowing about the crystal like substance but stated that the crystal like substance belonged to Tyler Bott who placed the item in the bed of the vehicle.

The W/M and W/F were charged with Possession of Control Substance PG1 >=1 G<4G.
